August 12th
Very little around at the moment with most of the resident birds going very quiet while they moult new feathers. 2 Common Sandpipers on the shore at Downclose are the only migrants I've seen so far, but it can't be long before we start seeing a few Willow Warblers about.

August 21st
A Willow Warbler near Old Castle Road was the first migrant I've seen for a while. Just one Swift left over Downclose.

August 29th
The main fall of migrants so far this autumn took place on August 28th - and I had to go to work! Needless to say pretty much everything had gone by the next morning but there was a Sedge Warbler in the reeds above Downclose cutting and a Med Gull in the harbour.

August 31st
August finished with a flourish as the last day added 6 birds to the list for the month. First a Raven appeared over Asda; then a juvenile Stonechat was by Downclose cutting; next a group of 8 migrant Wheatears were found on the rocks at Wellworthys; a Rook was feeding on the athletics ground and finally a Pied Wagtail flew over Marsh Road.
