September 1st
A few Swallows were migrating into the fresh south-westerly wind and a Wheatear was at Smallmouth.

September 9th
A Tree Pipit calling high over Newstead Road was the first record for this end of the trail.

September 19th
The autumn migration is well underway now with Chiffchaffs all along the trail today, along with a single Willow Warbler at Buxton Road and a few Tree Pipits overhead. Birds of prey were well in evidence too with Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and Buzzard all seen today.

September 20th
Even more about this morning with my first ever Common Redstart on the trail, a female or immature male in Downclose Cuttting. The first Stonechat I've seen for months was nearby as well.

September 29th
It was a bunting day today with 2 new species added to the list - both buntings! First was a Yellowhammer seen flying north over the harbour near Dover Road, closely followed by a Reed Bunting that dropped in to the bushes nearby on Downclose Embankment. Another Reed Bunting was later heard to fly over Newstead Road and a Redpoll was heard overDownclose Cuttting. Oh, and there was a Dartford Warbler in the gorse bushes there as well.
