May 23rd
Very quiet on the migrant front but lots of activity from the breeding birds, including recently-fledged Blackcaps (Newstead Road), Dunnocks (Newstead Road) and Goldfinches (Sandsfoot Halt).

May 18th
Lots of birdsong this morning but not much showing due to the high winds. Song Thrushes were everywhere, with Blackcap and Chiffchaff still singing strongly as well. The highlight was a Lesser Whitethroat in song at Downclose, an overdue first for the trail list.

May 16th
Surprise of the month was a winter-plumaged Red-throated Diver which turned up off Whitehead's Pier this morning. Wrong time, wrong place, wrong plumage...

May 3rd
Not many migrants left now apart from Swallows and House Martins which were flying north in some numbers all morning. About 5 Blackcaps and 2 Chiffchaffs appear to have set up territories along the trail, along with a couple of Whitethroats, one at each end.
