Section 7
Downclose Cutting to Small Mouth

This is the shortest section on the trail and, with no trees and very few bushes misses out on most of the woodland species. However it does produce plently of coastal birds as well as a few migrants such as Wheatears that like to feed along the shoreline.

Being not far from the Fleet and Ferrybridge it is often possible to see birds such as Brent Geese from this section as they fly along the far coastline.

This exposed location does not have a great plant list but a few marine species such as Rock Samphire are only found here. A few plants of the very rare Shrubby Seablite can be seen right at the end near the site of the old Whitehead's Pier.
