Section 2
Newstead Road to Wyke Road

Probably my favourite part of the trail, as much for the amazing views over Weymouth as for the wildlife.

The trees here hold lots of woodland species such as Long-tailed Tits and Goldcrests as well as migrants such as Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps. Great-spotted Woodpeckers sometimes visit. Thrushes like to feed on the large Hawthorns here, mainly Blackbirds but sometimes Redwings as well. The nearbly athletics ground is the only site visible from the trail that regularly has Rooks.

But it is the sky here that produces most bird sightings with Sparrowhawks, Ravens and Peregrines quite often passing over.

I've never seen a Badger here but there is certainly plenty of evidence of them.
