Varicoloured Bracket
Trametes versicolor

This is one of the most beautiful and most common of all the fungi.

Late autumn is the best time to see it as it soon grows a coat of green algae later in the winter and usually turns black by the spring.

On the Rodwell Trail it can be seen near Wyke Road bridge in section 3.

It is also called Many-zoned Polypore although the British Mycological Society recommend that it be called "Turkeytail", which sounds a bit too yankee for me.
