Jew's Ear on tree stump photographed on Saturday January 5th 2008 		This fungus only grows on Elder, and on the Rodwell Trail I've only seen it on one log in the stream/ditch half way along Rodwell Cutting (section 3).

It seems to really like the wet conditions here as the "brackets" are some of the biggest I've seen.

In spite of its odd looks and weird name this fungus is delicious to eat.

But it's so beautiful please leave it where it is for others to look at.
