Wintering birds on coast and fields

With the Autumn migration coming to an end we'll be looking for a range of wintering birds.
Although many of our Summer migrants will be well on their way to their wintering areas in the tropics other birds will still be passing through. Northern finches such as Bramblings and Siskins often come through at this time of year, although we are more likely to see the much commoner Chaffinch. Chaffinch

Thrushes will also be passing through in large numbers and some will be stopping for the winter. Scandinavian Redwings and Fieldfares may be accompanied by the continental race of our familiar Song Thrush.
The sea also holds a population of wintering birds and we will be searching the horizon for seabirds. A huge range of species is possible including all 7 British species of grebes and divers. Great Northern Diver
