Recently I've heard of several reports of young mice turning up in people's houses and gardens.
This often happens at the start of winter when young field mice try to find some extra food and warmth.
This one though was on the old railway line under Grove Point on Portland, well away from any houses.
It seemed to perk up a bit after I gave it a raisin to eat.
Apart from young mice like this one small mammals are very difficult to photograph or film as they are much quicker than we are and stay hidden all the time.
Earlier this summer I had the unique opportunity of filming a common shrew at Radipole Lake.
Not so hard to find are brown rats. This one was also at Radipole Lake, feeding on bird seed.
