Bob Ford's Video Blog
Saturday April 2nd 2016
A visit to West Dorset this afternoon gave me an unexpected chance to film a new species for me - great-crested newt.
The ones in that clip were males, here is a female.
In the same pond were also a large number of the much smaller palmate newts - the ones that I normally see around Weymouth and Portland.
This is a pair iin full courtship display.
Unbelievably this pond also had quite a few smooth newts as well.
