Mammals have featured strongly at Radipole recently with the water vole being very active and the otters leaving lots of spraints around.
There was even a sighting of an otter one day last week.
Then this sight greeted me as I opened the hide this morning.
Nearby a little egret was having a really good scratch and then seemed to be having trouble swallowing a stickleback.
A couple of days ago this green sandpiper gave exceptionally close views just in front of the hide.
It, or a similar bird, has been around for a few weeks but now it is becoming very speckly as it acquires its breeding plumage.
The warm weather has brought out a lot of insects recently, especially bee-flies.
This one was filmed today at Chamberlayne's Heath near Bovington but they are being seen everywhere at the moment.
