Some birdwatchers have no time for ducks, preferring to concentrate on more "interesting" birds (gulls perhaps?).
Growing up next to Radipole Lake, ducks have always been one of my favourite groups - and the teal is probably the best of the lot.
When you get really close the grey feathers on the drake's sides can be seen to be made of fine black and white bars.
Out on the lake a group were busy performing the courtship display where each drake makes himself look as big and as smart as possible to the very bored-looking duck.
